A life-changing decision

Well, it was a long time coming but I received a letter from my employer – a large new build company – at the weekend outlining why I should take voluntary redundancy. A bit upsetting but really not surprising at all given the current economic ‘credit-crunching’ climate.

So, I’m taking this opportunity to do something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time now – set up on my own. Instead of breaking my back for a faceless (and frankly thankless) organisation, I’m going to work for me. I am going to provide a top-class joinery service and use my experience (20 years), qualifications (achieved distinctions in everything) and my awards (two of them) to ensure that quality is my number one priority.

In fact I think I’m going to go with "Quality without Compromise" for my strap line.

So I am networking like mad, thinking about pulling a business plan together, and my other half is designing me some business cards.

What fun!
